April 22, 2010 Materials Pickup at Lowes

Marc and Steve (I took the picture!)

Storage!

Steve's Snowblower. Has nothing to do with building a Lighthouse but it's way cool!

April 27, 2010 Construction begins!

Base Cutting

Steve Cutting out side panel wall. Note 22.5 degree angle on the saw!

Base Test fit. Looks good! Off by 1/4 inch but that's not too bad.

Steve testing the wall fit. Once again looks good!

May 4 2010

Start time ~6:30 pm

Base shown upside down. About to attach 2x4s that hold the two halves together.

Steve cutting the cleats for the top and bottom of the base.

Side walls all cut! Good job Steve! The edges are even cut at an angle!

This is our left over wood. Lots of other parts will be made from this wood.

That's me sitting on the assembled base.

Finally the base with the cleats attached.

Quitting time ~10 PM!

Wednesday May 6, 2010

6-10 PM

I got the holes drilled for the wall bolts and then Steve and I hung the walls.

That's me being a door.

Saturday May 8, 2010

8:30 AM-10 PM

Started by cutting the top and bottom of the Watch room assembly. This tool is cool!

Here is one of the two panels before I cut the hole in it.

The cleats get attached to the rings.

Finally ready for some assembly! All the windows were cut too!

Getting ready for the top!

More help!

This is the roof being constructed. I'm not happy with the way I fastened the panels to the base so it's back to Solid Works to tweak the design!

Another view.

Not Shown:

1. Steve and I cut all 8 cleats for the base walls. Now we can fasten them to the walls and the bolt the walls together.

Quitting time!

Monday May 10 2010 (and Sunday)

Ok I saw these cool powder coated aluminum balusters to they got added to the project. The smooth look will look very professional!

Here are some of the assembled railings. Basically I set up my drill press and drilled all the holes at even debths.

Steve needed a string so we could make the arc for the doorway. I happened to have one on my T41 jacket!

Ready to cut!

Here we see the wall cleats installed. The walls really took shape once they were installed. Steve's ability to cut an angled line in the plywood walls really showed!

The doorways completed! The finish came out just like the Solid Works model showed!

Tuesday May 11

The day team took over and finished the roof!

The Doghouse base was also started!!

Steve is putting the icing on the cake and showing off his his roofing skills! I'll add a close up later.

Wednesday May 12

The roof is done!

Steve and Karen

Me , Steve and a railing!

Wednesday May 13
Marc and Ricky tweaked up the doghouse door today. I had a miscalculation on the side wall length and that caused the wall to be a little too short. We compensated by shortening the base by 4 inches.

The night crew came in! Me and Jim got to work on the doghouse while Steve manicured his lawn which was well over due because of the work he has been doing on this crazy project..

Here's Steve's Lawnmower. Cool! The blades are underneath somewhere.

That's me in the Doghouse! Sandra is going to make me sleep there if I keep working on this project!

We got the 4 walls up and 1 roof panel! Everything can be taken apart vi the wingnuts! (The other Wingnuts)

One more panel to make! I'm going to try and use a few pieces of Plywood so we don't have to go buy another panel. So far we have used all the panels of plywood we bought.

Saturday May 15 !

Moving Day!

I finally brought my better camera to take some pictures today! Of course I forget to take it with me when we dropped off the parts.

9 AM- 4 PM

One Light house base with a Dog House attached.

I got this side roof finished this morning.

Ricky and Ryan.. And the walls come tumbling down... Marc is behind a wall.

This is half the load!

And the other half is in Ricky's truck.

One Disaster Area!

It took about 2 hours to clean up this but now it looks great! Too bad I didn't take a picture. I can't believe all the little scraps of wood we generated in 1 week.

This page left blank.
(we needed some space)

The parts are now at our Scout House ready to be taken outside to be sanded and primed and painted.

Sunday May 16
