1. What are we trying to design?
Here is the Light house we are trying to look like.
Annisquam Light

These pictures can be found at this link. http://lighthouse.cc/annisquam/index.html You can also purchase prints too.

2. Schedule:

Here is the rough list of what has to happen for the project. The design needed to be done a little before May 5th so we could get the materials.

  • May 5 Mark and Steve to complete Base and start other assemblies.
  • May 8 (Saturday) General work day at Steve's house
  • May 15 and 16 sanding, painting,
  • May 23, 23 Final assembly
  • May 28 Starts the Shakedown Weekend.

3. Design Inspiration:
I found this guy while trekking around New Hamster after a ski trip! Let me know if you ever see this sign. Can you guess where I was?

4. Design Tools

The Lighthouse will be designed using Solid Works

5. The Design
The project was broken up into manageable assembles made from parts as shown below. The multimedia clock was not designed at this time but I plan on saving the circular cutouts for later.

This link will show most of the individual parts needed to assemble the lighthouse.
The latest drawings are not posted yet but we do have them compiled into a design notebook to be used during construction.

Update: I still have not posted the final drawings. I probably won't have the time to do it.

This is the first attempt.

This was the beginning of learning how to model the individual parts. Note the base is really fat.

March 03 2010 attempt

This model was coming along pretty good. But it just doesn't look like the lighthouse in the top picture.
