Hello
Everyone,
Reverend
Kanter
from
the
1st
Baptist
of
Abington
got
back
to
me
today.
We
are
all
set
for
Scout
Sunday,
February
5th.
Scouts,
Leaders
and
families
should
be
there
by
10:30
AM.
The
service
starts
at
11.
It
is
Communion
Sunday.
So
parents
should
be
aware
that
Communion
will
be
passed.
If
someone
does
not
wish
to
receive
Communion,
they
just
simply
pass
it
along.
All
Scouts
should
be
in
their
Class
A
Uniforms,
which
includes
the
uniform
shirt
(tucked
in),
neckerchief
and
a
neat
pair
of
pants
(please,
no
shorts
or
athletic
pants).
Hats
should
be
left
at
home.
The
church
is
located
on
the
corner
of
North
Ave.
and
Adams
St.
Most
people
should
be
able
to
park
in
the
North
Ave.
Parking
Lot
or
on
the
street.
Please
enter
the
Reception
Center
through
the
glass
doors
off
of
the
porch
on
the
North
Ave.
side.
All
Scouts
will
be
processing
in
together
with
the
American,
Pack
and
Troop
flags
and
then
sit
down
with
their
families.
The
service
will
be
simple,
but
will
be
meaningful
in
showing
that
a
Scout
is
Reverent
and
he
does
his
Duty
to
God.
If
you
have
any
questions,
I'll
do
my
best
to
answer
them.
Hello Everyone,
Every organization needs a strong support system in order to provide a quality and enjoyable program for our Scouts. We want the Scouts to look forward to each meeting and activity. Troop 41 would like to reach out to the parents to enhance that system. So, we've set aside Tuesday, February 7th to hold a Job Fair at the American Legion from 7-8 PM.
At this meeting we will provide you with opportunities to help us out. Some people may only be able assist on occasion. Others may want to step forward to become one of our Assistant Scoutmasters or Committee. No matter what level of involvement you choose, we're all here for one thing and that is to do everything we can to aid in the advancement of our Scouts. We will have applications available.
We will also discuss a few parent/leader guidelines to minimize distractions during troop meetings and allow our Scout to focus on advancement and planned activities.
Your anticipated assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Troop 22 Gold Rush Invitational - Saturday, February 11th - Camp Massasoit, Plymouth, MA - Participants will meet at the Legion at 6:45 AM. Parents are encouraged to spend the day to watch their boys with the LeVine's. Interested parents should let the LeVine's know by February. 8th. The group will be back in Abington by 6:30 PM.

The American Legion provided us
with a copy of their activities and
Events for the year. The majority of the
events are open to the families of Troop
41. There are some events that are
strictly for adults. Anyone interested
should inquire with the Legion to
determine any limitations. Please see
the Events list below.
American Legion Events 2011-12.pdf

Mr. Baker reports that,
unlike previous years, he
does not plan to offer
Camping Merit Badge to
eligible Scouts as a general
class this year.
Scouts who are interested in
working on Camping Merit
Badge with him should
contact him directly to make
appropriate arrangements.
This year he has set some
minimum requirements for
Scouts who wish to work on
Camping Merit Badge with
him. They are: (1)
must be in 7th grade
(equivalent) or higher; (2)
must be 2nd Class or higher;
and (3) must have 12 nights
of camping experience as
defined in the Camping Merit
Badge Requirements.
A separate commitment form
will go out for the
activities in December,
January and February. This
form will be passed out on
Wednesday, September 21.
The calendar for the
2011-2012 year was approved
by the Troop Committee and
can be viewed on the troop's
website at
http://www.abingtonscouts.com/Troop_41/index.html
As more information is put
together for each trip, the
calendar will be updated.
So, please check it often.
Also, as a reminder, if
there are funds in the Scout
Account, they can be used
for trips and deposits.
