Upcoming Events
Holbrook Sportsmen’s Club Weekend April 28-29 - Mr.
Cesarini (Anthony’s dad) has made arrangements for a campout at the
Holbrook Sportsmen’s Club. The weekend will include: NRA certified
instruction and supervision for .22 rifles on the range, nature and
conservation program, opportunities for advancement and leadership.
Older scouts are encouraged to attend to help out the newer scouts.
Christopher Beckvold’s Eagle Court of Honor Sunday, May 6
– By now you should have received a letter and a phone call from the
event organizer, Janet Dane. She’ll need some adult assistance the day
of the event. Your help will be greatly appreciated. As for the Scouts
who will be participating in the ceremony, we need you there by 10:30 AM
for setting up the hall and a final ceremony practice. The ceremony
starts promptly at 1 PM.
Carvell Weekend May 18-20 – The Carvell Family has
graciously offered up the use of their property in New Hampshire. This
is an opportunity for rank advancement and a fun time. We are also
going to work on a conservation project that will help to improve the
drainage on the property. That way we can improve the site and meet a
Camping Merit Badge requirement.
Flags in the Cemetery Saturday, May 26 - Meet at the
Legion at 9 AM, walk with us down to Mount Vernon Cemetery and place new
flags on the Veteran’s graves for Memorial Day. This is one of our
major service projects for the community. Everyone is urged to attend.
Families are welcomed to help out.
Memorial Day Parade Monday, May 28 – Meet at the VFW at
9:15 AM. The route follows Central St. to Washington St. to Adams St.
and ends in Mount Vernon Cemetery at the Veteran’s Plot. Once the
ceremony is over, the scouts can walk up to the Legion for hot dogs,
drinks and a snack. Everyone is urged to attend and show their respect
for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country’s freedom.
Summer Camp Opportunities Summer Camp at
Camp Squanto is just around the corner. Please forward your payments to
Mrs. Hatch. If a scout is interested in additional weeks or Eagle Week
at Camp Squanto applications are available. Eagle Week is for scouts
who have earned the rank of 1st Class and are looking to
complete Eagle required merit badges.
