Celebrating 100 Years - A Year of Celebration
For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has created a
strong foundation of leadership, service, and community for
millions of America's youth. Through A Year of
Celebration, A Century of Making a Difference, we will
demonstrate the incredible impact of a century of living the
Scout Law.
Program participants will earn recognition for making a
difference in their communities due to their dedication to
five of Scouting's core values: Leadership, Character,
Community Service, Achievement, and the Outdoors. Through
that commitment, participants can earn each of five award
ribbons to display from our 100th Anniversary commemorative
patch.
A Year of Celebration will take place from September
1, 2009 through December 31, 2010. The program is open to
all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, adult leaders, and
Scouting alumni.
On Wednesday, September 23rd Troop 41 will launch A Year of
Celebration Award Program. We will begin by handing every
Scout the base patch, which can be worn on the right pocket
of the uniform. Any adult leaders who are interested can
purchase a patch for $2.11 (see Henry B.). Every Scout and
Uniformed Leader will also receive the Centennial Ring
patch. This is worn around the World Crest, which is
located centered above the left pocket and below the
shoulder.
Mrs. Y. and Mr. B. will track everyone's progress. They
will coordinate with the Scouts and Leaders to make sure
there is a maximum amount of opportunities to complete the
requirements for each of the aspects of the award program.
Progress will be tracked on computer and a chart that will
be available for everyone to view.
Please see the attached PDF's for both the Scout and Adult
requirements. The Scouts/Adults will receive a copy with
their patches.
